Galaxy Statement on Governor Abbott's Data Center Grid Directive
DICKENS COUNTY, TX -- Galaxy Digital supports Governor Greg Abbott's directive calling on the PUC and ERCOT to audit data center projects seeking to connect to the Texas grid. Reliable power, protected ratepayers, responsible use of water, and a strong focus on mitigating the impact on daily life for neighboring residential property owners and communities are the right priorities, and they are the priorities Galaxy has built around at its Helios campus in Dickens County from day one.

Those priorities are built into how Galaxy operates:
Reducing demand on the grid. Galaxy funds its own electrical infrastructure and connects to the ERCOT grid. During declared emergency conditions, Helios will respond as required by SB-6, helping protect power availability for Texas households while ensuring it does not add further strain to the grid when power is needed most.
Conserving resources. Helios uses the latest closed-loop cooling technology to minimize water consumption, requiring near-zero additional water after the initial system fill.
Being a good neighbor. Galaxy has invested locally in all-weather roads, broadband, emergency radio equipment for area sheriffs, schools, and other areas to support county economic development. It is already the county's largest employer and taxpayer.
Becoming part of the community. Galaxy has entered a 15-year naming rights partnership with Texas Tech University, home of Red Raider Football, and is building a talent pipeline with the university that already supports the Helios campus and will grow alongside AI-focused academic and workforce programs in the region.
