Arizona served a variety of roles in World War II. The Army Air Corps opened up air fields all over the state: Kingman, Thunderbird I, Thunderbird II, Falcon, Yuma, Claiborne (Wickenburg), Williams, Luke, Ryan, Davis-Monthan, Douglas, Ajo, and Gila Bend.
