This server aims to provide a means of disseminating recent research results from this department to the Internet: to explore novel uses of the Web, particularly with respect to the provision of Chemical information: to facilitate inter- and intra- departmental group working: to promote the established reputation of Excellence in Teaching of the School.

In 1957, the Department of Chemistry became the first department at the University of Rhode Island to offer the Doctor of Philosophy degree. Since that time, the department has grown to 17 full-time faculty, 3 jointly appointed faculty, approximately 40 graduate students, and a number of postdoctoral associates.
